COVID-19 Entry Requirements for Tanzania (2025)
Entry into Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar
- No COVID-19 vaccination certificate or negative test required: Travelers are not required to present proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival in Tanzania or Zanzibar.
- Health screenings upon arrival: Health officials may conduct temperature checks and screen passengers for COVID-19 symptoms.
- Random rapid antigen testing: For surveillance purposes, port health officials may perform COVID-19 rapid tests free of charge for randomly selected travelers.
- Positive test protocol: Travelers who test positive on a rapid antigen test will be required to undergo a mandatory RT-PCR test, at a cost of USD 50 per person in mainland Tanzania and USD 100 in Zanzibar.

🧾 Pre-Arrival Requirements
- Health Surveillance Form: Travelers arriving from or transiting through Uganda or the Democratic Republic of Congo must complete a Traveler’s Health Surveillance Form within 24 hours prior to arrival.
🛫 Departure from Tanzania
- Testing for onward travel: Departing passengers whose airline, layover, or destination country requires a negative COVID-19 test certificate must undergo testing prior to departure.
💉 Recommended Vaccinations for Travelers
While not mandatory for entry, the following vaccinations are recommended for travelers to Tanzania:
- Typhoid
- Hepatitis A and B
- Polio
- Rabies
- Influenza
- Pneumonia
- Meningitis
- Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)
